A man after Gods own Heart: The skin I'm in.

‭‭1 Samuel 17:38-40 NIV‬‬ [38] Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. [39] David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. [40] Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine. https://1samuel.bible/1-samuel-17-39

Saul's intentions were good. He wanted David to be safe and feel protected. This is how it's usually done. We prepare the best way we know how to be the most effective when taking on an important task. Sometimes we just don't know any other way but someone else's approach. Children walk in their parents shoes until life requires a speed and agility that only a custom made outfit will work. One that is designed specifically for you.

When God is Lord over you life, something different is needed and He will show you exactly what that is. Something special, unique, and genuine. It's your courage to become who God called you to be. For David, it was a staff, five smooth stones, a pouch and a sling. And the strength to approach his day.
